Matt Padgett to join Caribes de Anzoategui

Sources have confirmed that Matt Padgett will join the Caribes de Anzoategui in the Venezuelan Winter League on Thursday joining 2011 Duck's teammate Jon Hunton.

A fan favorite on Long Island, Padgett a native of South Carolina, played his college baseball at Clemson University. He was a 5th Round pick(160th overall) by the Florida Marlins in the 1998 MLB Amateur draft. Padgett played eight years in the Marlins organization; with his best being in 2004 when he batted .267 with 24 Home Runs, and drove in 93 RBI's. Padgett also played in the Chicago Cubs and Philadelphia Phillies organizations.

Padgett played for the Ducks in 2010, and 2011. During the 2011 season Padgett batted .282, with 11 Home Runs, and 67 RBI's.
