2004 Long Island Ducks Team Card Set Review

2004 was a magical season for the the Long Island Ducks as the finished with a record of 65-61 and won the Atlantic League Championship defeating the Camden Riversharks.

The Ducks didn't have a star studded roster that season but did have some notable former Major League players in the set that included Doug Jennings, Patrick Lennon, Wendell McGee, Bill Pulsipher Kimera Bartee and Cole Liniak. Also in the set were Jason Johnson and Justin Davies who along with Jennings, Lennon, and Baretee were named to the Ducks 10th Anniversary All-Time Team (2009). This set also featured Kevin Baez who would eventually become the Manger of the Ducks in 2011. Bud Harrelson, like always is included in the set.

Produced by Choice Sports Cards, the 2004 Ducks team set has 34 (28 of which were players/coaches) numbered cards plus an unnumbered checklist. Interestly enough this set did not feature a card for team mascot Quackerjack (he has cards in later sets).

The checklist includes:

1. Kevin Baez
2. Kimera Bartee
3. Matt Beech
4. Mike Caruso
5. Joe Cotton
6. Justin Davies
7. Lance Davis
8. Matt DeWitt
9. Matt Garrick
10. Doug Jennings
11. Jason Johnson
12. Kris Kozlowski
13. Justin Lamber
14. Patrick Lennon
15. Cole Liniak
16. Wendell McGee
17. Troy Mattes
18. Taylor McCormack
19. Ryan Owen
20. Bill Pulsipher
21. Andrew Salvo
22. Kevin Sheredy
23. Bill Simas
24. Clint Weibl
25. Jordan Zimmerman
26. Eric Colon
27. Bud Harrelson
28. Team Trainers
29. Dave LaPoint
30. Don McCormack
31. Brad Keith
32. Front Office Staff
33. Nathan's Famous Hot Dogs
34. Clubbies

The cards have full-color, glossy finish fronts that feature mostly game action photography. (there are a few posed portrait shots). The backs are printed in black and white, with small portrait photos, biographical information and stats (where applicable).

(This set did not come autographed. I was able to get it signed during the 2004 season).

I tried looking for the set only over the past few years but have been unable to find it. I consider it an extremely rare set for the Ducks.
