The 2011 season was an amazing season for the Long Island Ducks. The Ducks finished the season 78-47 winning both the 1st and 2nd Half Championships, and eventually winning the Liberty Division Championship under first year Manager Kevin Baez. Ultimately, the Ducks fell in the finals to the York Revolution.
The 2011 Ducks set was kind of a disappointment not only because of how late it was released but because of the design of the set which was wood grain, and similar to the 1987 Topps set, which was not popular among fans. What was lacking in the design was made up in the photography which was excellent.
Choice SportsCards produced the 35-card team set which was sponsored by Nicolock Paving, it included 27 player cards, 10 cards for the team’s coaches and staff (including mascot Quackerjack), and an unnumbered checklist card. The glossy-finish cards feature action photos on the fronts and black and white backs with cropped versions of the front photo, stats and biographical information (an improvement over previous years sets).
The Ducks card set featured did not have any huge names on the roster but did have a few notable former Major League players including Ruddy Lugo, Duaner Sanchez, Heath Phillips, Shane Youman Dave Williams, John Rodriguez, Jeremy Hill and Lew Ford.
You can purchase the set from STB Sports for $16.95 (plus shipping), or for $8 (plus shipping) on the Ducks Online Store.
