Mike Loree pitching well in winter ball

Mike Lorree is pitching well for the Caneros de los Mochis in the Mexican winter league.

Loree is 1-0 with a 3.18 ERA, and 8 strikeouts in 17 innings pitched for the Caneros.

Loree was the 2011 Atlantic League Pitcher of the Year posting 14 wins and a 1.98 ERA. He was signed towards the end of the season by the Pirates organization and had a 1.17 ERA in 4 games with Altoona in the Eastern League (AA). He ultimately returned to the Ducks for their playoff run.

  1. Mike Loree was tremendous for the Ducks last season. Glad to see he's still doing well. You would think he'd rise through Pittsburgh's organization rather quickly...no? He had a good showing in Altoona as you pointed out. After pitching in the playoffs and now Winter League, I'm always a little concerned about innings and the short break before Spring Training. Although they maintain rules for pitchers, that's exactly how pitchers stayed strong in the off-season back in the day. Juan Marichal comes to mind.
