Skeeters fill rest of staff with Britt Burns and Vic Gutierrez

The Sugar Land Skeeters have announced the rest of their field staff which includes former All-Star pitcher Britt Burns, and former Victor Gutierrez. The Skeeters had previously announced that former MLB All-Star Gary Gaetti would be manager.

Britt Burns a native of Houston Texas played eight seasons in the major leagues for the Chicago White Sox. He made his major league debut at the age of 19 in 1978 (the same year he was drafted). In 1981 he was selected as an American League All-Star, and finished 7th in the Cy Young award voting. His career record was 70-60 with a 3.66 ERA and 734 strikeouts. Most recently he was the pitching coordinator in the Houston Astros organization.

Victor "Vic" Gutierrez played eights seasons in affiliated ball with the Pirates, Braves, Expos and Angels organizations. He also played eight seasons in the Atlantic League for Lehigh Valley, Atlantic City, Camden, Newark, York, Lancaster, and the Road Warriors. He has 26 home runs, and 280 RBI's with 125 stolen bases in his Atlantic League career and was named an Atlantic League All-Star twice (2001 & 2002). Gutierrez played his final season in 2011 with the Road Warriors where he had .289 batting average in 67 games.

The Sugar Land Skeeters will begin play in 2012 at Constellation Field, in Sugar Land, Texas.
