The re-signing of Kraig Binick yesterday was a huge step towards the Ducks repeating as Liberty Divisions champions next season.
Binick hit .343 last season and won the Atlantic League batting crown. He also had 42 stolen bases and OBP of .429.
What I like about Binick his versatility in the batting order. He can bat lead-off or be moved down in the order and can drive in runs. While doesn't have much pop (only 4 home runs last season) he does poses gap power. Last season he had a career high 19 doubles to go with 4 triples.
One thing I noticed at a few games last season is that he has a tendency to distract pitchers when he's on base. He takes aggressive leads, and draws a lot of throws to first, which wears pitchers down.
I think Ducks fans can expect more production out of Binick in 2012. He'll be 27 by the time the season starts and is in the prime of his career.
