Reaction to Ford, Lyons and Gorecki signings

I wasn't a surprise to me when Lew Ford signed with the Ducks today. He recently moved to Long Island, and is an instructor at Cage 16 along with Ray Navarrete, and Jeremy Hell. He's also a highly recognizable name from his days in the major leagues, as well as a fan favorite. He'll definitely help sell tickets. Last season, he hit .318 with 10 home runs, and 45 RBI, which were almost identical to his 2009 totals with the Ducks. This shows that he's consistent, but it also shows that his body can still handle the rigors of a full season (he'll be 36 in August).

Dan Lyons was another great signing by the Ducks. Last season, I felt that Lyons was the most underrated member of the Ducks. He hit 10 home runs, with 40 RBI in a platoon role for the Ducks. I think any team would take that off their bench. He also provided some solid defense for the Ducks. I think he'll get more opportunities to play this season after his breakout season last year.

Reid Gorecki a native of Long Island went to Kellenburg Memorial High School in Uniondale, NY. He'll bring a veteran presence to the Ducks lineup (He played briefly in the major leagues with the Atlanta Braves in 2008). Overall, he's a speedy outfielder who gets on base a lot and can make things happen. He's also solid defense outfielder, and can play all three outfield positions.
