Reaction to Chacin and McOwen Signings

It was only a matter of time before the Ducks signed a starting pitcher, and they made a big splash by signing former major league pitcher Gustavo Chacin. Chacin should be a solid starter for the Ducks. Some of his best seasons were at the Double-A and Triple-A levels, which is what the Atlantic League is comparable to. Chacin obviously has major league stuff, so if he starts off hot don't be surprised if he's picked up by a major league organization.

James McOwen is a solid defensive outfielder who can play all three outfield positions. He's also shown throughout his career he can hit for power, drive in runs, hit for average and also steal bases. Yet, he's never been able to put all of those together in one season. If you take his career highs in HR, RBI, BA, and SB's, the line would look like this, .340 batting average, 10 home runs, 82 RBI and 30 stolen bases. That would be pretty nice for an utility outfielder.
